Hong Kong’s Spin will sponsor the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournaments for five years starting from 2024.
The AJGA announced on the 7th (local time) that “We have signed a tournament sponsorship contract with Spin for five years starting from August 2024. The Spin Junior Championship and Spin Junior All-Star will be held in the United States.”
The Spin Junior Championship will run from August 11 to 14, 2024, and the Spin Junior All-Star will take place from August 14 to 16, 2024. Both tournaments will be held at the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont, California.
The two tournaments aim to unearth golf talents worldwide aged between 12 and 19.
Jason Etzen, CEO of AJGA, said, “We have high expectations for the infinite opportunities this contract will bring. This is a significant step towards the growth and development of young men and women who seek to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.”
Smile Shi, founder and CEO of Spin, stated, “The AJGA is the path to the biggest stage in junior golf. It also sparks interest among college coaches. Spin is proud to work with AJGA to provide new opportunities for junior players in Hong Kong and Asia. Based on our experience participating in elite amateur tournaments and world-class pro tournaments for over a decade, we aim to inspire and support more junior players in our region to engage in golf and receive high-quality education.”
Alexander Yang, who enrolled at prestigious Stanford University through the AJGA, said, “I participated in many AJGA tournaments during my junior years. It’s the biggest and most competitive junior circuit in the United States. As a result, it attracts everyone’s attention. I am grateful to AJGA for providing the stepping stone to college golf. I will never forget the experiences I shared with the golfers. I learned the value of writing thank you cards after rounds.”
An information session will be held at the Spin Club Luke Brier on the 27th, with Shi, Yang, and the head coach in attendance.
Spin operates on a membership basis, covering golf, table tennis, and dance. It boasts top-notch facilities, coaches, and restaurants. Full membership is by invitation only.
The AJGA is a non-profit organization, consisting of over 9,000 junior members (boys and girls aged 12 to 19) from 50 states and 51 countries. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Nelly Korda, Park Inbee, Lexi Thompson, and Scottie Scheffler.
