Adoption of Security Resolution and Firm Commitment to Security Posture
The Incheon City Council recently pledged to leap from ‘Incheon, the number one security city’ to ‘Incheon, the world peace city,’ it was revealed on the 7th.
On the 6th, the opening day of the 291st Second Regular Session, the Incheon City Council held a Security Resolution Conference after the plenary session in the council chamber, with all council members, including Chairman Huh Sik, attending, vowing to take the lead in strengthening the security posture.
The council asserted on that day, “Incheon, which has not yet healed from the scars caused by the Yeonpyeong Island shelling and the Cheonan ship incident, is threatened by North Korea’s repeated missile provocations and even air provocations using drones.”
In relation to this, the council, representing 3 million citizens in Incheon, the closest area to North Korea, adopted a resolution and decided to strengthen the security posture.
On that day, all council members urged the government to build a strong national defense system to protect the lives and property of the people from North Korea’s provocations, such as the development of nuclear weapons and missile launches, and to prevent the recurrence of incidents like the Yeonpyeong Island shelling and the Cheonan ship incident in the West Sea Five Islands.
Furthermore, they pledged to take the lead in creating a solid security environment to prevent the recurrence of a national tragedy like the 6.25 War, representing 3 million Incheon citizens.
Huh Sik, Chairman of the Incheon City Council, said, “Incheon, which has overcome the scars of the past national tragedy of war and achieved peace and prosperity, will now take the lead in creating a stronger security environment so that it can fully function as a world peace city.”
