MBC’s ‘I Live Alone’ Denies Allegations of Connection to Controversial Hotel
[Mydaily = Reporter Lee Seung-gil] The production team of MBC’s ‘I Live Alone’ (hereinafter referred to as ‘I Live Alone’) has denied allegations that a hotel owned by JMS (Christian Gospel Mission) appeared on the show.
The ‘I Live Alone’ team released a short official statement on the 17th, stating, “The allegations currently being raised are baseless. We will pay more attention and make efforts to various opinions sent by viewers.”
Previously, YouTuber Goo Jae-yeok claimed in a video on his channel on the 5th that the A Hotel, which was promoted on ‘I Live Alone,’ is closely related to JMS. In the episode of ‘I Live Alone’ that aired on the 3rd, the cast members were shown staying overnight at a hotel in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do.
Goo Jae-yeok explained, “‘I Live Alone’ promoted this hotel as a paid product placement, but this hotel is related to JMS. Although it may seem unrelated to JMS on paper, most of JMS’s events and festivals were held at this hotel.”
He continued, “A Hotel 302 Suite Room is the place where Jeong Myeong-seok (JMS founder) did terrible things to women, calling it ‘a place where he did terrible things to women in this era.'”
After the broadcast of ‘I Live Alone,’ the Center for the Prevention of Harm from Heretical Religions sent a letter of protest to MBC, providing evidence of the connection between JMS and A Hotel.
According to the center, they claimed that Jeong Myeong-seok taught about A Hotel, saying, “‘When I prayed, Jesus told me that He would build a villa here. It is what God has given.’ They also claimed that JMS purchased A Hotel as a JMS accommodation to hold their own events.”
They added, “Room 302 is the place where Jeong Myeong-seok committed repeated sexual assaults.” They also said, “Many JMS victims are recalling the past and suffering after watching this episode.”
Goo Jae-yeok also revealed a photo of Jeong Myeong-seok wearing a crown in the lobby of A Hotel.
Meanwhile, Jeong Myeong-seok has been detained and prosecuted for the alleged rape of two women of Hong Kong and Australian nationality 23 times from February 2018 to September 2021 at a training center in Wolmyeong-dong, Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. In August 2018, he was also accused of molesting a Korean woman by touching her thigh while driving a golf cart.
