MBC Entertainment’s flagship show “I Live Alone” (hereinafter referred to as “I Live Alone”) has been accused of featuring a hotel owned by JMS (Christian Gospel Mission). However, the hotel has denied these allegations, stating that they are baseless.
YouTuber Gu Je-yeok claimed in a video uploaded on the 5th that the A Hotel, which was promoted on “I Live Alone,” is closely related to JMS.
In a recent episode of “I Live Alone” that aired on the 3rd, the cast members were shown staying overnight at a hotel in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do.
Gu Je-yeok explained that the hotel, which was promoted on “I Live Alone” as a paid product placement, is owned by JMS. He stated that although it may appear unrelated to JMS on paper, most of JMS’s events and festivals were held at this hotel.
He also claimed, “JMS Chairman Jeong Myeong-seok referred to the A Hotel’s Suite Room 302 as the place where he committed terrible acts against women, calling it ‘the place where the Messiah of this era’ did wicked things.”
After the broadcast of “I Live Alone,” the Anti-Cult Damage Prevention Center of the Presbyterian Church sent a letter of protest to MBC, providing evidence of the association between JMS and the A Hotel.
According to the center, they educate that Jeong Myeong-seok said, “When praying, Jesus told me that he would build a villa here. God gave it to me.” They claimed that JMS purchased the A Hotel as a JMS accommodation to hold their own events. They added that Suite Room 302 is the place where Jeong Myeong-seok’s sexual assault occurred repeatedly.
They also stated, “Many JMS victims are recalling the painful memories during that time after watching the recent episode and expressing their suffering.”
Gu Je-yeok also revealed a photo of Jeong Myeong-seok wearing a crown in the A Hotel lobby.
In response, the A Hotel denied all rumors, stating that they have no connection to JMS and that the “I Live Alone” production team made a reservation like any other regular customer.
The hotel representative also refuted the reports of filing a lawsuit, calling them groundless.
The production team of “I Live Alone” has not yet released an official statement.
Jeong Myeong-seok has been under arrest and on trial since February 2018 until September 2021, facing charges of raping two women of Hong Kong nationality on 23 occasions at the Wolmyeongdong Training Center in Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. In August 2018, he was also accused of sexually harassing a Korean woman while driving a golf cart.
