[Herald Economics (San Francisco) = Reporter Jung Yoon-hee] President Yoon Seok-youl, who is visiting the United States in San Francisco to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 16th (local time).
President Yoon and President Xi attended the unofficial dialogue and working luncheon of Session 1 of the APEC summit on this day. The two leaders greeted each other with a smile before the start of Session 1. They were also captured on camera having a brief conversation for about a minute.
This is the second time the two leaders have met since President Yoon took office, and it’s been a year since they held a summit between China and South Korea on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, in November last year.
It is also noteworthy whether a second summit between South Korea and China will be held during this APEC summit. President Xi held a summit with US President Joe Biden on the 15th, and a summit with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is scheduled for today. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether a summit between South Korea and China will take place.
