On the 17th (local time), the second and last day of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, President Yoon Seok-yeol is expected to emphasize the need for inter-state linkage to strengthen ‘supply chain cooperation.’
President Yoon will attend the second session of the APEC summit titled ‘Interlinkage, Creating an Inclusive and Resilient Economy,’ which is being held in San Francisco, USA, this morning. It’s a ‘retreat’ meeting, a session where leaders from each country freely exchange opinions on current issues without being bound by formalities.
President Yoon plans to explain the need for cooperation among APEC member countries to restore the multilateral trade system, strengthen intra-regional supply chain linkage, and establish digital ethics norms in the midst of a global complex crisis.
In the afternoon, President Yoon will visit Stanford University for a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The meeting, which will focus on cooperation in advanced technology fields between Korea and Japan, is expected to address North Korea’s illegal cyber activities to secure funds for nuclear and missile development and the need for tripartite cooperation between South Korea, the United States, and Japan to strengthen the supply chain. President Yoon also held the seventh Korea-Japan summit this year, taking the opportunity of the APEC summit with Prime Minister Kishida the day before.
