Hyundai Motor Company has clinched the driver’s championship title at the 2023 TCR World Tour.
Hyundai Motor Company (005380) announced on the 20th that its Elantra N TCR (Avante N TCR) secured first place in the final round of the TCR World Tour held at the Macau Guia Circuit from November 17-19 (local time), thereby confirming its overall victory in the driver’s category. The TCR World Tour, which succeeded the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) that concluded last year, is a race that uses production-based race cars. It determines rankings based on points earned according to the results of selected 9 major races out of more than 200 TCR races held worldwide. This year’s event is officially sponsored by Kumho Tire (073240).
Norbert Michelisz of the BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team, who participated in the race with the Elantra N TCR, delivered a victory to the team by crossing the finish line first in the first final race of the Macau event. Norbert Michelisz won several times from the opening round in Portugal, the third round in Italy, the eighth round in Australia, to the ninth round in Macau, earning a total of 440 points and topping the driver’s category for this season.
Mikel Azcona, who also competed with the same race car, finished the first final race in fourth place and ended the season in fifth place overall in the driver’s category. The BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team secured third place in the overall team category with a total of 805 points.

At the same time as the TCR World Tour, the Hyundai Elantra N TCR also topped the final round of the 2023 TCR China Championship held in Macau. Martin Cao of the Hyundai N team demonstrated the powerful performance of the Elantra N TCR to Chinese motorsports fans by winning the first final race.
Martin Cao, who has been performing well since the opening round of the TCR China Championship held at the Shanghai International Circuit in May, secured first place overall in the driver’s category with the conclusion of the six-round Macau event, and the Elantra N TCR also achieved the feat of topping the overall model category. In the team category, the Hyundai N team secured second place overall.
Hyundai Motor Company, which declared its entry into the Chinese market with its high-performance N brand in April, plans to build a fan base for the N brand in China and promote the excellence of its high-performance race cars based on its victory in the TCR China Championship.
