North Korea, a threat too covered for passive response.

On January 18, Germany’s major daily newspaper, Der Tagesspiegel, introduced a new solution to the North Korean nuclear situation and its resolution. North Korea has been raising its value by receiving courtship from China and Russia amidst the Ukraine war and the US-China conflict.

And taking advantage of this situation, it has achieved groundbreaking technological advances, such as missiles equipped with multiple warheads, long-range cruise missiles, hypersonic missiles, and solid-fuel ballistic missiles. In 2022, not only did it provoke missile threats 70 times, but it also prepared new nuclear operation guidelines and opened the way for a nuclear pre-emptive strike.

However, a bigger problem is that communication has been cut off due to international sanctions against North Korea and North Korea’s own isolation, so there is almost no information about North Korea. Embassies and even NGOs have left North Korea and have not returned, so the communication channel with North Korea has stopped.

In response to this, the atmosphere in South Korea is also changing. Over 70% of the population supports the development of their own nuclear weapons, and President Yoon Seok-yeol is openly suggesting the possibility.

Now, a more realistic alternative needs to be prepared,

First, expand the US-Korea defense to US-Korea-Japan defense

Second, shift diplomacy from denuclearization to reducing the real threat of North Korea.

The threat of North Korea’s nuclear problem has become too great to respond passively.
