President Xi said, “The Asia-Pacific region has become an economic cooperation body that leads global development,” and called for a restart of cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region based on the original intention of APEC. He pointed out that the direction of Asia-Pacific cooperation in the new era we are facing is a question that needs to be answered.
President Xi emphasized, “The Asia-Pacific region cannot and should not become a geopolitical arena of competition,” and “we should not fall into a new Cold War or confrontation based on camps.” He also called for the promotion of open regionalism, the construction of an Asia-Pacific free trade zone, the promotion of economic integration and communication among countries, and the construction of an open and cooperative Asia-Pacific economy. He also proposed to promote the deep integration of digital economy and real economy, and to improve global scientific and technological governance through cooperation.
President Xi revealed that the Chinese economy has continued to recover and high-quality development is being steadily promoted this year. He emphasized that China still has the strongest internal potential for economic development, including being the world’s largest growth engine, having a wide industrial system, and high-quality workers and entrepreneurs. He further stated that China has the confidence and ability to achieve long-term and stable development, and will continue to bring new momentum and opportunities to the world.
President Xi stated that China will open its doors wide for construction and actively pursue a high level of opening up to the outside world. He also stated that China will continue to make efforts to improve the business environment through marketization, legalization, and globalization. He welcomed the active participation of the global business community in China’s process of modernization, and the sharing of the huge opportunities brought about by China’s high-quality development.
