As rumors related to the drug scandal in the entertainment industry involving actor Lee Sun-kyun and singer G-Dragon mentioned members of the group BTS, their agency HYBE (formerly Big Hit Music) announced on the 28th that they have started legal action, stating the rumors are groundless.
In response to a query from Yonhap News, HYBE stated on the afternoon of the same day, “The rumors related to our artist and a specific place (referring to a nightclub in downtown Seoul where drug use allegedly took place) are completely untrue.”
Particularly, they emphasized, “The members of BTS do not know the place in question and have never visited it.”
HYBE said, “We are taking legal action both civilly and criminally with a principle of zero tolerance for the spread of false information and defamation,” and “We have already initiated legal action against groundless rumors related to our artists.”
This is in response to a suspicion raised by an internet media outlet and a YouTube channel that some members of BTS frequented the nightclub.
HYBE seems to be preparing to file a complaint as soon as they finish collecting evidence.
HYBE added, “We will hold those responsible for the continuous spread of false information accountable to the end.”
