[Herald Economy=Seo Jae-geun] Hyundai Motor Company will be the first among the global finished car brands to start selling cars online in the U.S. market through Amazon starting next year. In addition, the company plans to equip new cars launched in the U.S. with Amazon’s AI assistant ‘Alexa’ starting from 2025.
Hyundai Motor Company announced that it has signed a broad and strategic partnership with Amazon at the 2023 LA Auto Show held at the LA Convention Center in the U.S. on the 16th (local time) to provide customers with innovative and new experiences.
The partnership includes ▷Online car sales on Amazon ▷Selection of Amazon Web Services as the cloud-first provider for digital innovation ▷Future cooperation in various fields, including the installation of Amazon’s AI assistant ‘Alexa’ in Hyundai’s new cars.
First, Hyundai Motor Company and Amazon will sell Hyundai’s vehicles through Amazon in the U.S. starting from 2024. Hyundai is the first brand that allows customers to purchase vehicles on Amazon.
Customers can go through the entire car purchase process on Amazon, including finding a vehicle available for purchase in the desired area according to various selection options such as model, trim, color, and features, selecting payment and financing options, and making a payment.
In addition, Hyundai Motor Company has chosen Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the cloud-first provider for overall innovation in data management, including computation, storage, management and operation, analysis, AI, and Internet of Things (IoT). Hyundai plans to primarily apply AWS to production optimization, manufacturing and supply chain management, security and disaster recovery, and connected car development.

Starting from 2025, Hyundai customers can utilize various features using Amazon’s AI assistant ‘Alexa’. Customers can ask Alexa to play music, podcasts, and audiobooks, set notifications, modify schedules, check calendars, and even request the latest traffic updates or weather forecasts, in addition to various smart home functions.
