On the 16th (local time), U.S. President Joe Biden, after meeting with President Yoon Seok-yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, said, “Thanks to President Yoon Seok-yeol and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, I was able to lessen my burden in performing my duties as the U.S. President.”
President Biden met separately with President Yoon and Prime Minister Kishida for 10 minutes and announced this, according to Kim Tae-hyo, the First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, who briefed at the local press center.
In a private conversation, President Yoon said, “I positively evaluate the cooperation between Korea, the U.S., and Japan,” and “I believe that the U.S. and Japanese leaders agree with my philosophy and belief about the correlation between security and economy,” a Presidential Office official reported.
The official added, “It seems that the three leaders are satisfied with the fact that the comprehensive cooperation system built among the three countries at Camp David in the U.S. last August is being successfully continued, and the high-level dialogue channel for implementing it is actively operating.”
He further emphasized, “The fact implicitly agreed upon by the three countries’ leaders is that security and economic cooperation are two sides of the same coin,” and “The partners for advanced technology cooperation should be 100% trustworthy militarily, and in terms of political system, ideology, and values, and the three leaders believe that such a relationship exists between Korea, the U.S., and Japan.”
