On the 17th (local time), the second and final day of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, President Yoon Seok-yeol is expected to emphasize the need for inter-country linkage to strengthen ‘supply chain cooperation’.
President Yoon is set to participate in the second session of the APEC summit, ‘Creating Interconnected, Inclusive, and Resilient Economies,’ in San Francisco, U.S. It is a ‘retreat’ meeting where the leaders of each country exchange opinions on current issues freely without being bound by formality.
President Yoon plans to explain the necessity of cooperation among APEC member countries for the restoration of multilateral trade system, strengthening of supply chain connectivity in the region, and establishment of digital ethics norms in the midst of the global complex crisis.
In the afternoon, President Yoon will visit Stanford University to have a meeting with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan. The meeting is expected to be centered on cooperation in advanced technology fields between Korea and Japan, with the illicit cyber activities of North Korea to secure funds for nuclear and missile development and the need for tripartite cooperation between Korea, the U.S., and Japan to strengthen the supply chain expected to be the main topics. President Yoon also held this year’s seventh Korea-Japan summit with Prime Minister Kishida on the occasion of the APEC summit the day before.

Afterwards, President Yoon is scheduled to depart for Seoul, completing the four-day, two-night APEC schedule. He is expected to arrive at Seongnam Airport late at night on the 18th (Korean time).
On the 19th, President Yoon will receive reports on domestic issues and economic schedules during the tour from the presidential staff and ministers.
The next day, the 20th, he will head to the UK at the invitation of King Charles III. President Yoon will carry out his state visit schedule in the UK until the 23rd and then move to France to participate in the final bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo (Expo) until the 24th.
The vote by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) to determine the host city for the 2030 Expo will be held on the 28th.
