BLACKPINK’s Rosé had an encounter with the spouses of the leaders attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
According to the White House, on the 17th (local time), Jill Biden, wife of U.S. President Joe Biden, hosted a mental health event at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, for the spouses of the leaders of the APEC participating countries, as reported by Yonhap News.
BLACKPINK’s Rosé attended this event, which was organized to raise awareness of the seriousness of mental health issues and to call for attention.
Jill Biden introduced Rosé as a “global superstar who uses her status as a force for good in the world.”
She continued, “She has actively raised her voice to solve mental health issues and bravely shared her story with the hope of helping others.”
She added, “I am grateful that Rosé accepted my invitation to join us today, and I also thank Kim Geon-hee for supporting my efforts.”
According to AP, Rosé confessed at the event that she feels vulnerable when many people show interest in her on social media and especially when they criticize her.
Rosé said, “Whatever I do, I always feel like it’s never enough,” and “No matter how hard I try, there will always be someone who has their own opinion or enjoys leading the narrative about me.”
She emphasized the importance of discussing such matters, regardless of how difficult it is, and stated, “Just as we eat food for physical health and fitness, we need to pay equal or more attention to mental health to maintain it.”
