BLACKPINK member Rosé had the opportunity to share her experiences candidly with the spouses of leaders attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
According to the White House, Jill Biden, the wife of U.S. President Joe Biden, hosted an event on November 17 (local time) at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, to raise awareness and urge attention to mental health issues for the spouses of leaders participating in the APEC summit. BLACKPINK’s Rosé attended this event.

Jill Biden introduced Rosé as a “global superstar who uses her position as a force for good in the world.”
She continued, “She has bravely shared her story in the hope of helping others by actively raising her voice to address mental health issues.”
She added, “I am grateful to Rosé for accepting my invitation to join us here today, and to Kim Geun-hee for supporting my efforts.”
According to AP, Rosé stated at the event that it is challenging when many people show interest in her on social media, especially when they criticize her.

Rosé said, “I always feel like what I do is never enough,” and “No matter how hard I try, there will always be someone who has their own opinion or enjoys leading the narrative (about me).”
She emphasized the importance of discussing these issues, no matter how difficult, stating, “Just as we eat food for physical health and fitness, mental health needs to be maintained with equal or more care.”
Rosé expressed her hope that her music, based on these experiences, would provide inspiration and comfort to many people.
Jill Biden responded, “Too often we hide these issues, keep them secret, and ignore them, but we can start healing by exposing them and talking about them honestly.”
Kim also reportedly said, “Korea has the characteristic of being a competitive society where everyone is very aware of each other,” and “I hope that the problems caused by excessive competitiveness can be improved through various mental health programs.”
