[Herald Economy= Moon Young-kyu Reporter] A fan died of cardiac arrest at a concert of world-renowned pop singer Taylor Swift in Brazil. The organizers faced criticism for prohibiting the entry of water bottles despite the heat wave, which led to a fatality.
According to foreign reports including the Brazilian daily Folha de S.Paulo on the 18th (local time), Ana Clara Benavides (23), who attended the concert held at Estadio Olimpico Nilton Santos on the 17th, passed away.
Benavides fainted at the concert venue and was transported to the hospital, but eventually died of cardiac arrest.
She was standing in the front row of the standing section of the concert venue and lost consciousness while Swift’s second song was playing. A friend who was with her got help from a security guard to move Benavides to a support booth outside the venue. Despite performing CPR for about 40 minutes and being moved to a hospital, she died.
The day of the concert, Brazil was experiencing a heat wave, and it was reported that the perceived temperature at the venue was close to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Despite these conditions, the organizers prohibited the entry of water bottles into the venue, which some attendees argue led to this incident.
Some audience members were reported to have vomited or complained of severe dehydration. Swift even threw water bottles to the audience during the performance.

In fact, videos of audience members in various standing areas raising their hands and asking for water have been released through social networking services (SNS) such as X (formerly Twitter).
In one video, Swift is seen noticing struggling audience members and saying, “There are people in the back who need water.”
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift wrote a handwritten letter mourning the death of audience member Benavides, who died of cardiac arrest after attending her concert.

She said, “I can’t believe I’m writing this, but I lost a fan before my concert tonight. My heart is torn,” and “I can’t put into words how shocked I am by this incident.”
She added, “I know very little about her, other than the fact that she was incredibly beautiful and too young,” and “I won’t be able to talk about a fan’s death on stage because I’m overwhelmed by sadness.”
She also expressed her deep sense of loss, saying, “I want to express my condolences to her family and friends.”
