[Yoo Beom-yeol, iNews24 Correspondent] On the 28th, the ruling party expressed regret towards the Democratic Party for turning the plenary session schedule into a battlefield by submitting an impeachment motion against Chairman Lee Dong-kwan and Prosecutors Son Joon-seong and Lee Jung-seop.
Spokesperson Park Jeong-ha released a commentary in the afternoon, stating, “It is questionable whether it is the normal behavior of a political party for the Democratic Party to unreasonably bring up the impeachment of Chairman Lee Dong-kwan, as if throwing a tantrum like a child, based on groundless delusions of broadcasting control.”
Regarding the impeachment motion against the prosecutors, he also said, “Is the Democratic Party negotiating with the judiciary? It is a sight of the Democratic Party setting up hurdles for the judicial risk of Chairman Lee Jae-myung.”
He added, “The Democratic Party’s unconstitutional and anti-democratic impeachment politics will inevitably face the impeachment of the people.”
At the same time, spokesperson Jang Dong-hyuk also commented, “If the Democratic Party forcefully pushes through the impeachment motion during the plenary session for the budget, it will be an unprecedented invasion of the National Assembly.”
Spokesperson Jang referred to the impeachment motion as a “zombie impeachment motion” that resurrected a non-existent reason for impeachment through a trick, stating, “It is a budget session on the 30th and 1st of next month, and there has never been a plenary session for the budget without agreement since 2012.”
He argued, “I have repeatedly emphasized that the plenary session on the 30th and 1st of next month is for the budget, and we have never forced a plenary session for the budget without agreement since 2012.”
Spokesperson Jang also directed his criticism towards National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo, saying, “If he forgets his duty of neutrality and takes the side of the ruling party by opening the plenary session, he will be held accountable. Such a speaker is unqualified and deserves impeachment.”
He also warned the Democratic Party, saying, “I also warn the Democratic Party. The behavior they are showing now is a typical image of an underdeveloped country.”
